Monday Runners

We start at Kempton on Monday with Robin’s Purse and Thafeera. Robin’s Purse is diminutive, but she tries hard. She doesn’t take a lot of getting ready and her work at home has been fine. Thafeera was a very promising second to the Nell Gwyn winner on her debut at the track in November. She is highly strung, and can be quite hard on herself. Alice, who looks after her, does a good job with her and is very patient. Her work hasn’t been amazing but she needs to start off somewhere, and Monday will tell us more.

We send Star Catch and Sakurajima up to Pontefract. Star Catch is another small filly, but she’s fit and ready to go. We were delighted with Sakurajima’s run at Windsor and his work since has been good. He should have decent chance.

Marettimo has been gelded since his last run. He’s grown again and is a big frame of a horse at the moment. As he strengthens over the season he should improve plenty. Windsor should give him a chance to use his big stride and he will be handicapped after this.
