Frustrating first day

Saturday was slightly frustrating with three seconds. On a positive note, however, we were delighted with how the horses ran considering we haven’t had many runners over the winter and didn’t have an exact gauge on their fitness. Manaahil is a nice filly and her inexperience caught her out – we’ll probably aim her at the seven furlongs fillies maiden at the Craven Meeting. Jamie Spencer thought the maiden Never Surrender was second on rode like a good race, and the winner’s connections were talking about Derby trials. We need to try find a winning opportunity for him and then go from there. Farook just ran out of puff at Chelmsford and was done on the line. He looks like his pretty quick and we may stay at seven with him or drop him back to six. As it turns out Gunmetal didn’t have a great draw at Doncaster and we will put a line through his run. He’s quite a stuffy horse as well, so probably needed it more than some of our others.

This week goes quiet again and we won’t have any runners until Thursday at the earliest. Glorious Power is in at Chelmsford. He’s been in good form since his win, but the handicapper hasn’t been very kind to him. Percy Thrower is entered at Southwell. He doesn’t take a lot of getting fit, it’s just whether we want to run him on that surface.

On Friday Takatul has an entry at Leicester. He’s done really well over the winter  and is one we’re very much looking forward to getting back on the track. Angel Of Darkness and Spare Parts both have entries at Kempton.

We have entered Katheefa (by Street Cry), Rebel De Lope and Takatul at Lingfield on Saturday. Katheefa had a racecourse gallop at the track a couple of weeks ago just to get some education into him as he didn’t run as a two year old. He shows plenty of speed at home. Rebel De Lope has done well over the winter. You can write off his final run as a two year old as he came home sick. In the evening Glorious Artist and Exquisite Ruby are entered at Wolverhampton. We will see how they work midweek and make a decision from there.
