Equilateral and Dutch Connection delight over the weekend

We’ve been looking forward to getting Equilateral back on the track. He always went well last year and was so impressive on his first start. He had a setback following York and went back to Juddmonte where they did a marvellous job with him. His work this spring has been akin to how Battaash was going this time last year, so we knew he had a very good chance on Saturday evening. He’s very similar to his father Equiano in physique and temperament, and we’re hoping he can be as good! If all goes according to plan the Commonwealth Cup is the next port of call.

Dutch Connection has been in great order this spring and we knew with his favoured fast ground on Saturday he would run well. I think we’ve well and truly come to the conclusion he doesn’t stay a mile, as for the first time everything was right for him to get it. It’s so unfortunate there isn’t a Group 1 seven furlong race during the summer, as come the Foret in France the ground has gone against him. He’ll go back and try and win the Lennox again at his beloved Goodwood, and will probably take in the Hackwood Stakes at Haydock on the way.
