This Saturday will be a busy one and we start at Sandown. Battaash has been putting in some very eye catching bits of work over the last few weeks, however his chances have definitely been dented by being drawn in stall 9. He’ll be doing his best, but it might be a step too far from that draw. We think the stiff mile at Sandown will suit Alnashama and he’s in good form at home. Munthany is a big backward horse, who has taken a lot of time to get fit. He needs a race now and it will do him the world of good.
We have two runners at York in the shape of Tanzeel and Dark Freedom. Tanzeel has had his problems over the years, but arguably his best performance was at York when he won a competitive six furlong handicap a couple of years ago. He’s going up in trip and may be best watched on his first start of the season. Dark Freedom is a nice colt who has been working well with horses with racecourse experience. Most of ours come on for the run but he shouldn’t disgrace himself.
In the evening Be Mindful, Gi Gi and The Big Short go at Leicester. Gi Gi ran a nice race first time up, and given that she works with, and as well as, Elizabeth Bennet who won at Lingfield we’re hopeful she’ll be close. Be Mindful has a good way about her and really puts her head down in her work, however she’ll probably need it. The Big Short’s last run was a write off, and as we’ve said before this horse works much better at home than he shows on the racecourse.
Finally Spare Parts runs at Lingfield – he’s come out of his run last week in great form and is bouncing around the place. This is his first run over seven furlongs which should help.
