Newmarket July Meeting

We won’t have huge numbers of runners over the next three days, but we are sending some nice horses up to Newmarket for their July Meeting. Today we run one of our old favourites A Momentofmadness. He’s had a really good season so far and we’re hoping that his jump and run tactics will have them all at it today. We introduce a nice filly in the shape of Indicia (by Bated Breath) in the six furlong maiden. She’s been going well at home but like most of ours will probably need the race.

Tomorrow (Friday) we start the day off with Gunmetal in the Silver Bunbury Cup. He’s been a bit disappointing since his win at the Rowley Mile, but he’s reunited with Andrea Atzeni and maybe the extra furlong will help. Red Roman drops down in class having contested the Coventry Stakes last time. He didn’t really get involved there, but if he can get to the front and dominate he could be hard to pass. In the seven furlong maiden we introduce Jetstream (by Galileo) and Chaparral Prince (by High Chaparral). They’re both going to need the race mentally and physically but we’ve done all we can with them at home and they need to experience the racecourse now.

On Saturday Afaak runs in the mile handicap. We were pleased with his run in the Britannia as he was on the wrong side. He looks great at home and we’re hopeful of a good show. Nebo was another who was compromised by his draw in the Coventry and could never get into the race. We’re hoping the step up to seven furlongs in the Superlative Stakes will suit him and he’s been working as well as ever at home.
