Frustration for A Momentofmadness and Dutch Connection
It was a frustrating weekend with our two flagship runners proving unlucky in their respective races. Although it’s doubtful either would have won, it’s likely they would have finished much closer than they did with clearer runs.
A Momentofmadness was hampered a couple of times in the Portland, and although the winner was clear he probably would have finished third at least with more luck. He’s run so consistently all year and we’re extremely proud of him. He deserves a big win.
We knew Dutch Connection’s draw in Canada was going to be a problem, and having travelled supremely well into the home straight he had absolutely no where to go and got out far too late. The jockey was convinced he’d have finished second if he’d been able to kick when he wanted to. What was great to see was he handled the Woodbine bend much better than he had previously in his runs in North America. We’ll get him home and make a plan. He’s pretty seasoned traveller and trips abroad don’t appear to take too much out of him.
