Friday Frustrations!

Friday was a very frustrating day for us. First Nebo got touched off in France and then Dutch Connection was pulled up in the Challenge Stakes.

With only three runners Nebo was forced to make the running which didn’t really suit him, and he was out gunned in the closing stages. He has now been second in three Group 2’s and third in another. We would love to make him a group winner as a two year old but could be running out of time. He’s a great prospect for next year and at least we don’t have to worry about a Group 2 penalty!

Dutch Connection stumbled badly coming out of the stalls and was never going in the Challenge. James Doyle did the right thing and looked after the horse, however so far nothing has come to light as to what happened. The horse is going to have a full MOT this week and hopefully that will highlight something. It’s all a bit of a mystery and a real disappointment as it’s the first time he’s had his ideal conditions for a while.

Spoof did put a smile on our faces with his good run in the Cornwallis. He’s talented and quirky, and we’re hoping that he improves some more over the winter as he looks a real five furlong specialist. A certain Battaash was beaten further in the race last year than he was!
